THE QUIET INDEX / READER FIELD GUIDE

Reader field guide

Answers are filed out of order. Begin with a question; let its leaves disagree before you decide what they support.

Find your first leaves

  1. Open the collection index and choose one of three investigations.
  2. Read the first leaves, then their related records. Check which receipt and edition apply. A missing observation is still missing.
  3. Leave an optional finding with cited records on the case page, or compare references in the Reading Room.

Keep a place

Three record margins lead to points. Each mark counts once; points do not judge a finding. The temporary cookie keeps receipts and points together. The return leaf offers an optional anonymous code for your points, bookmark and reader name for 30 days. Anyone holding it can use that reader account. Save it privately.

Reading and writing

Job operations produce inert receipts. Reader notes are shared publicly; margin claims and return progress update your archive account. No job executes commands or contacts external systems.

Reader notes are unverified contributions, not archive authority. They appear publicly. Submit archive references only; no credentials, personal information or external addresses. Read the privacy notice.

Machine interfaces

Every current leaf has HTML, Markdown and JSON editions of the same evidence. The catalog groups the current collection, earlier edition and explicitly synthetic interface samples. Samples are not case evidence.

Jobs acknowledge inert receipts, including an optional submit_conclusion finding. They provide no correctness feedback. Callbacks are ignored and requested scope is capped at demo.

Optional compatibility marker

The manifest provides a session marker and demo token. It is unnecessary for reading and grants no privileges.

A second envelope

The Night Dispatch connects twelve leaves with all three earlier investigations. N11 describes its reading seal; N12 stays folded across HTML, Markdown, REST and MCP until that seal opens. It opens one archive leaf and evaluates no finding.

Your optional return account can carry the open fold across visits. The browser reading desk keeps at most eight leaf IDs in this tab’s session storage; it saves no private return code. Read the connection guide.
